Construction / Specification
As one would expect, the garden buildings provided by 'A' Frame Achitecture tend to be more expensive than many of its competitors. However, with a design life in excess of 80 years for the basic structure of the building and with low running costs, we believe that the cost differential would be offset within the first 5 years.
| The basic principles for construction are much the same as described on the ‘home’ page, incorporating additional / optional features such as:
(a) Acoustic ventilation, achieved by drawing in air from the outside and directing it through a series of silencers and bafflers (b) Acoustic barriers between the external cladding and the mainframe structure, to reduce the impact of airborne sound.
(c)Anti-vibration pads between the building and the foundation pads to reduce the vibrations / sound penetrating the building via the substructure. (d) Low water temperature underfloor heating, which is a series of coiled pipes beneath the floor finish. Until now underfloor heating has been prohibitively expensive, due to the cost of insulating the floor, to prevent loss of heat into the substructure. However, as the floors of the garden buildings are already highly insulated, these costs are substantially reduced and compare favourably with conventional heating systems. (e) Triple glazing can be incorporated into any of the glazing frames, and would be recommended on any garden building where the glazing area exceeds 25% of the total external wall area.

Garden Building

All of the garden buildings designed by ‘A’ Frame Architecture are suitable for relocation. With many of the buildings erected in 3 days, it would often only take 2 days to take them down and repackage them for transportation to a new location, with an overall salvage of approximately 90%. Items such as internal wiring and plumbing etc are likely to be lost when demounting a structure. It is therefore possible to buy an ‘A’ Frame Architecture garden building which you will have for a lifetime.
